After starting grad school, a lower back injury, and everything surrounding COVID-19, Weird Appalachia has been on a much longer hiatus than I ever anticipated. I'm speaking on behalf of everyone involved with this project when I say the we love and appreciate our listeners and hope that everyone is doing well in such a strange time.

My heart is so heavy to hear of the passing of a dear friend. Thomas Whitaker was more like a mentor than a teacher. He believed in my work when I had no idea what I was doing. He lifted those around him up, and made them really think about life and its absurdities. I've spoke of him so often on this podcast because he shaped the way many of us "creekers" see art and how important our Appalachian culture is. On behalf of everyone involved with Weird Appalahcia, I'd like to extend our love and prayers to his family. It's been a joy to know you, friend.
